Carry with you (do not pack in movers)
- Passports (all family members)
- Status/work authorization documents and job offer letter
- Lease or proof of temporary housing
- Medical prescriptions and key records
- Emergency contacts + important numbers
Guidance
Make digital copies (PDF) and store them securely. Keep one printed set in your carry-on.
Immigration & work docs
- Degrees, transcripts, licenses
- Employment letters (current and recent)
- Resume/CV
- Reference letters (if relevant for O‑1 or specialized roles)
Family & school docs
- Birth certificates, marriage certificate
- School transcripts/report cards
- Immunization records
- Any learning support documentation
Housing, money, and vehicles
- Bank statements and proof of funds (as needed)
- Canadian credit report copy (helpful for some landlords)
- Car title/ownership docs and insurance history
- Household goods inventory (basic list)
Preparation notes
- Use consistent names across documents (watch middle names/initials).
- Keep a “timeline notes” document with dates and addresses.
- If documents need translation, plan it early.
